People Matter Gift Guide

It’s that time of year again. All of our momentum, focus, and budgets zero in on one thing. Our schedules and bank accounts tell the same story – holidays are coming! We have people to shop for and the time is counting down.

Cheaper and faster are often rewarded, but what if there was a different goal in mind? What if we could shop smarter and kinder?

When we point our shopping lists (and wish lists) toward companies who are supporting and caring for their workers, we are turning our gift giving into real life benefits for good companies. Supporting their work with our gift giving, that sounds like a win-win to me!

Here are beautiful products from some of my favorite companies (and a few from my wish list!) who put people first.

Learning where our spending power is going is a responsibility we can take on as advocates for human rights. Issues like child labor, unfair wages, and dangerous working conditions may seem far away from us. We can trick ourselves into thinking we have the luxury to feel like it’s someone else’s problem. Social justice is making someone else’s problem, your problem.

Don’t feel the pressure of taking on everything at once! We can’t be the solution, but we can be part of it. We can tackle little by little and why not start with a few items on our Christmas lists?

Happy shopping!
