My Favorite Reads This Year

I’m embarking on a challenge called the Book 100. It doesn’t have a particular end point, I’m just focusing on reading 100 books within topics that I’ve selected.

Here’s a quick outline of some of the favorite books that I’ve read during this season:

The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson – Yes, praying is simply talking to God. Sounds easy, right? For me, it’s hard, focused work. When I picked up The Circle Maker I was on edge, prepared to feel guilty that prayer was hard work for me. Instead, I felt encouraged and empowered!

Freefall to Fly by Rebekah Lyons – Out of all the books I’ve recently read, as a writer, I related the most to Rebekah’s writing voice. This is a beautiful and vulnerable snapshot of a time of transition in her life. Personally, I think young moms and those going through a difficult transition would relate best to Rebekah’s story.

Coming Clean by Kimberly Rae Miller – I could not put this book down! I planned on reading it before bed for a month, but it didn’t even last a week! I loved the short, choppy chapters of this memoir of a child of a hoarder. It’s a compelling story of overcoming difficulties. I recommend this to any memoir fan. (Disclaimer – There’s some salty language in a few chapters.)

Have you recently read any books about biblical womanhood, marriage, or mommy-hood? I’m looking for a few more books to add to my Book 100.
